Welcome to our new blog (A message from Greg Ioannou)
This blog came about in an unexpected way. Our office is in the Centre for Social Innovation in Toronto, and in among the CSI's internal emails was one encouraging people to apply for Digital Main Street grants.
So we applied, and a few months ago landed a grant. It was $2,500, and we had to be very specific about how we were going to spend it: some on hardware, some on software, some on marketing.
The amount of money was relatively trivial. What was more important was being pushed to think through how you'd spend that money to improve your business.
We decided to focus on the website. You're not going to see most of the upgrades to the site — they're back-end things. The most visible improvement is this blog/vlog.
We're not planning to use it for promotion. Instead, we want to let you meet editors and other professionals, and our authors. We'll talk about some of the less-obvious aspects of what we do.
So thank you CSI and Digital Main Street. And welcome, everyone.
